With a great number of award-winning houses situated at Dover Heights, locals in this Eastern Sydney suburb are proud to say that Dover Heights is consistently building its reputation as one of the most affluent residential places today.

Fancy an architectural home and looking to move? No need to look elsewhere because Dover Heights got you covered. With so many options to choose from, you wouldn’t mind at all whether the house is overlooking the city or the ocean as all these homes are beautifully designed and uniquely constructed.

Here are the following award-winning houses you will find at Dover Heights:

The Butterfly House

The futuristic eight-shaped house or the “Butterfly House” at 197 Military Road in Dover Heights was designed by Architect Ed Lippmann back in the mid 1990s after being commissioned by a wealthy Chinese-Malaysian businessman (who unfortunately abandoned the site two years after its construction started).

The three-storey Butterfly House was majestically finished with elliptical-shaped rooms, having the living room at the north-west wing, and the bedrooms and a 12 car granite tiled garage in its eastern wing.

In 2010 the Butterfly House was bought by Michael Yi- a telecommunications company owner- and his wife, Michelle Yi, for $5.05 million.

Mobius House

Moebius House got its name in reference to the concept of the Möbius strip—a continuous wavy surface with only one boundary. This curvy Dover Heights home is located specifically in 129 Military Road.

Constructing this home for 18 months was an engineering and architectural feat. The Moebius House was also recognised as a benchmark in environmental innovation due to its passive solar design.

Moebius house has three levels with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Given its height and location, this house comes with great views of the Sydney Harbour, Bridge, Opera House and of Sydney’s CBD.

The Light House

Placed amongst Sydney’s most prestigious oceanfront properties is The Light House at 10 Wentworth Street in Dover Heights.

The Light House is a three-bedroom home with a single bathroom and one parking space.

A notable feature of this home (aside from the beautiful ocean views that it offers) was that it was held by the same family for over 50 years, until in 2008 when the property was sold off to its new owner. Acquiring a house like this means that the new owner will have the luxury to either transform the house into something more modern or keep its original form with a loving-home vibe that made the previous owner stay for a few decades.

The Cliff House

The Cliff House at 8 Wentworth Street in Dover Heights is a stunning contemporary designed home set in a breathtaking cliff top location. This house has a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, and it is privately hidden at the end of the driveway with only just a short walk to the parklands, North Bondi cafes, restaurants and the beach.

The Cliff House was designed with elegant minimalist interiors by London-based architects, Walters and Cohen, together with Sydney-based architects, Collins and Turner.

Bellevarde Constructions built the base design of the home which includes two separate wings that is connected by a gallery entry and glass atrium with corten steel sculpture.

All the interiors of this two level 4-bedroom house were seamlessly connected. Surely, anyone who visits this place will find themselves allured by this uniquely designed home.

The Holman House

Located at 20 Hunter Street in Dover Heights is a Picasso painting inspired clifftop house called The Holman House.

The Holman House was built on top of a 70 metre cliff by the architects of Durbach Block Jaggers back in 2004. The plan of the house is based on Picasso’s The Bather, having a complex series of fluid living spaces that are set within the curvy arcs and folds of the area.

The base of the house acts as an extension of the cliff below due to its rough stone wall design. Whilst the lower level swimming pool provides a beautiful dramatic view over the vast ocean.
