Open night success

Tuesday February 19 was our annual RBSC Open Night and it was once again a resounding success.

The Open Night is a wonderful evening where we showcase all the fantastic faculties and extra-curricular activities that we offer. Even though the School Renewal project at the front of the school was not completed in time for this event, the school looked amazing and our passionate and committed staff and students presented professionally and enthusiastically.
The event was attended by over 400 people with many commenting on their departure to the senior executive staff that; “You should be very proud of this school”, “You have passionate and dedicated staff”, “Your students are so mature and were excellent ambassadors for the school”.
Overwhelmingly, the feedback we have received since the event has been extremely positive.  Parents were very impressed with the efficiency and high quality of the presentations.
A very big thank you to all students and staff

Guest visit

Last week Rose Bay Secondary College was fortunate to receive a visit from NSW Minister for Education, Mr Robert Stokes, as well as our local member, Mrs Gabrielle Upton. Upon the minister’s arrival, he was greeted by the principal and school captains Ashley Fyfe and myself at our new upgraded front entrance, a government funded project. It was a fantastic opportunity for myself as I’m currently undertaking legal studies so I was able to ask questions and clarify my inquiries with the Minister. Ms Bernadette Hayes, a P&C representative and chair of the P&C building subcommittee was also present and gave her perspective as a parent to Ms Upton and Mr Stokes. Mr Stokes kindly gave us three books as a donation to the library.

Karmichael Hunt and Will Miller from the NSW Waratahs visited RBSC on Friday 8th March for a coaching session with the Under 15 rugby union team. The boys enjoyed the tuition from these professional rugby players and the twenty boys that attended this skills session took a lot out of it. It is envisaged that the boys will now train together and play some practice games against some of the private of the schools in the area. Next year the Under 16 squad will be able to compete in the coveted Waratah Shield.

Biggest best nipper representation yet

The annual NSW State Nippers Carnival was conducted at Blacksmiths Beach from 1st March through to 3rd March. Over the years RBSC has always had very strong representation but this year was possibly not only the biggest RBSC representation but also the one with the best results. All of these nippers should be very proud of being nominated to attend the NSW State Nippers Carnival as this is a great achievement in itself. To make it into a final is an amazing achievement. To medal is simply sensational. RBSC is proud of all of our future Lifesavers. They will most certainly participate with aplomb as the water safety for the annual Year 7 Life Saving Week in December.
