After a year of restrictions and rescheduling in 2021, the Year 8 Cohort were fortunately able to undertake a belated Surf Week to end the term and year on a high note. As part of the week’s roster of activities, students waded through waves at Bondi Beach, raced in relays at Cook and Phillip Pool, kayaked across glassy waters at Rose Bay, and soaked up the sun at Bondi Icebergs. Along the way, each group learned a variety of skills to help them feel more comfortable and confident in the water. As a cohort, we’d like to thank Mr Flack, Mr McNaught, and the entire PDHPE faculty and other participating staff members for making this week possible. We very easily could have missed out on this great Year 7 tradition, but have benefited immensely from the efforts made to get us out on the water.

IEF Graduation 2022
On Wednesday the IEF gave Toby and Nicholas a graduation extravaganza. We welcomed Ms. Bright, Ms. Archer and parents and friends, then the IEF performed their dance, Levitating. They had been practicing the dance with their Maccabi funded dance teacher Gabi Green and planned to have her lead at the Graduation. Gabi emailed that she has tested positive for Covid so we asked Evan Ryk to lead the students in the dance. Evan was magnificent and led the IEF through the dance beautifully. Next were speeches, then a trip down memory lane with images from the past 6 years on a Power Point, then the Graduation signed bears and the cutting of the cake. The Year 12 Year Advisors spoke and handed the graduates the yearbook and certificates. The big surprise was Santa who brought gifts for all, then IEF students sat down for a farewell feast. Students can join the DOVES Council
Students are encouraged to apply now to join the Minister’s Student Council, known as DOVES.
Applications for 2023 are now open. DOVES (Department of Student Voices in Education and Schools) is the peak forum connecting NSW public school students to the Minister for Education, where students can contribute to positive change.
Benefits
Being on the DOVES Council allows students to have a voice and share their experiences and views on educational policies and programs. It also provides opportunities for leadership, networking and growth.
The Council is made up of 27 students representing schools from all of the educational directorates across NSW.
Applications
Applications are now open for students across NSW from years 5 – 9 to join the DOVES in 2023 for a two-year term.
Students need to submit an application form and video outlining why they’re interested in being part of DOVES and why they would be a great advocate for all students.

Girls Basketball Local Derby
The RBSC Racoons and RBSC Rebels played a tough match on Sunday. It was neck to neck the whole game. The Racoons had extremely good shot accuracy and the game had a lot of energy. The final score was 40 to 32, RBSC Rebels winning the game.
Year 7 French Excursion
Last week Year 7 students went on an excursion to see the French film “Little Nicholas” at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington followed by a 3-course meal at The Little Snail restaurant.

Cooling The Schools Program
Yesterday students helped to plant 260 new tree saplings as part of the Cooling the Schools program! Thanks to Green Australia for allowing RBSC to be involved.
White Card Training
Twelve students across years 9, 10, and 11 completed their White Card training in the Lecture Theatre last week.
