Courage To Care
Over the last two weeks, RBSC was proud to host the Courage to Care Classroom Program. Years 7 to 10 participated and should be congratulated on their respect and undivided attention to the program leaders and holocaust survivors.
IEF Break Area
The IEF break area has had a welcomed upgrade. Students can now eat, socialize, and relax on 3 new picnic style tables under generous market umbrellas. They are enjoying their inclusive space and are welcoming mainstream students to sit under the shade of their umbrellas too.
Students can join the DOVES Council
Students are encouraged to apply now to join the Minister’s Student Council, known as DOVES.
Applications for 2023 are now open. DOVES (Department of Student Voices in Education and Schools) is the peak forum connecting NSW public school students to the Minister for Education, where students can contribute to positive change.
Benefits
Being on the DOVES Council allows students to have a voice and share their experiences and views on educational policies and programs. It also provides opportunities for leadership, networking and growth.
The Council is made up of 27 students representing schools from all of the educational directorates across NSW.
Applications
Applications are now open for students across NSW from years 5 – 9 to join the DOVES in 2023 for a two-year term.
Students need to submit an application form and video outlining why they’re interested in being part of DOVES and why they would be a great advocate for all students.

T4L resources for Term 4 now available
The Term 4 Technology 4 Learning (T4L) online resources are now available and provide some great tech solutions for the classroom.
T4L Kids magazine
T4L Kids magazine is a self-guided independent learning resource that aims to provide students with purposeful challenges to engage them in creating content and enhancing their problem-solving skills using technology.
The latest issue of T4L Kids is all about the world of amazing animals. Meet our cover star, Matilda the therapy dog, and go behind the scenes for a day in her busy working life at a Sydney school. Catch up with Microlight Milly, a zoologist flying around Australia following migratory shorebirds at a bird’s-eye level. T4L also chats with deadly scientist Corey Tutt and follows the Tassie Devil trail with illustrator Max Hamilton.
There are three exciting challenges for students who are keen to explore animals, raise awareness of an animal issue or boost their next animal project!

No matter what you’ve got planned these summer holidays, add the magic of maths to your child’s summer break with our fun maths activities.
Whether you are exploring one of our many beautiful national parks, going for a swim, baking or creating a robot, enjoy exploring the wonder and amazement of maths everyday with your family.
All these activities will help your child expand and increase their skills and understanding in concepts like measurement, volume, time and puzzle solving.
Maths is all around us and by engaging with our maths activities, you can show that maths is fun and at the same time, continue your child’s learning journey this summer.

Year 8 Surf Week
After a year of restrictions and rescheduling in 2021, the Year 8 Cohort were fortunately able to undertake a belated Surf Week to end the term and year on a high note. As part of the week’s roster of activities, students waded through waves at Bondi Beach, raced in relays at Cook and Phillip Pool, kayaked across glassy waters at Rose Bay, and soaked up the sun at Bondi Icebergs. Along the way, each group learned a variety of skills to help them feel more comfortable and confident in the water. As a cohort, we’d like to thank Mr Flack, Mr McNaught, and the entire PDHPE faculty and other participating staff members for making this week possible. We very easily could have missed out on this great Year 7 tradition, but have benefited immensely from the efforts made to get us out on the water.

IEF Garden Winners
On Saturday, the IEF students gratefully accepted the Waverley Garden Award winning prize presented by Costa Georgiadis and the Waverley Major Paula Masselos. They worked hard, and it paid off and they feel like super stars.
Stand Up Boys at Surf Week
The Stand Up Boys did a fantastic job at feeding the very hungry Year 7 and 8s who participated in Surf Week over the last fortnight. Thank you to Henry Teofilo and Micaiah Te Rata for working with the group and giving them the opportunity to give back to our school community.
